Sunflowers

Sunflowers seem to be everywhere I go recently. I have seen them in the expected places, the Botanic Garden and the city farm allotments, but also in the most unexpected places.

The Magic Of Glastonbury

Glastonbury is a place I had felt a pull to visit for a long time. With its associations with King Arthur, Paganism, witchcraft and all things mystical and magical, it seemed like it would be my dream place, and I had vague memories of its magic from visiting as a child. But it was also somewhere I was avoiding, worried I had built it up too much in a combination of imagination and memory, and that in reality it would be just a tacky tourist cliche.

Bee Festival Haul

I recently visited the Bee Festival, which had stalls with lots of bee and pollination related things for sale. I thought it would be interesting to do a little haul of what I bought there. Everything available there was very ethical, and most of it was locally grown or produced, so it was exactly the kind of thing I like to support.

Bee Festival

At the beginning of September I went to the Bee and Pollination Festival at the Botanic Garden, an event I had been VERY EXCITED about for a long time! I'm fascinated by pollinators such as bees, butterflies, bats and moths, and I love honey, so I was really looking forward to reveling in all these for a day.

Summer Thrifting

I did A LOT of thrifting this summer...probably too much, if my bank balance is anything to go by. But I did get some lovely things, so here is a round up of them all! To start off, I picked up this gorgeous leaf necklace, which I think looks very elven. It's a beautiful necklace but also makes a good circlet on my head.

Magical Meanderings

This summer I went on one of the most magical, breathtaking walks I have ever been on. It started in a beautiful meadow, filled with wildflowers. Perched on the thistles were clouds of six-spot burnet moths, their black and red colouring contrasting beautifully with the soft mauve of the thistles.  White butterflies flitted above the grass.

Summer Blaise

Back in early summer I went to the Blaise Castle Estate, the former grounds of a mansion house which is now a public space. In addition to some naturally occurring features, the parkland was landscaped to provide interest on carriage rides, and the result is a place which looks like it is straight out of a fairy tale. The combination of whimsical features and beautiful nature is perfect for me.

Iridescent Mermaid Garland

After making my white paper gem garland I still had a little bit of the shimmery white wrapping paper I used left, so I decided to make a mermaid themed garland to use it up. I used real scallop shells as a template, then I cut out three bigger shell shapes and two smaller ones.
