Bristol is a city with a maritime history, and one of the reasons I love living here so much is because of the beautiful harbour, tidal river and abundance of nautical features. The whole city is arranged around the water, and it has really influenced the look and feel of the city-some parts of Bristol look so much like the seaside that I almost expect to turn a corner and find a beach! So it makes sense that there are lots of mermaid treasures to be found, if you look hard enough.

Ducklings and Moorchicks
Bristol Harbourside is great for many reasons, but one of the best things about it is watching all the water birds. In one spot there's a little floating artificial marshland to encourage wildlife, which always seems to have a duck or a swan or a moorhen hiding away somewhere in it, as well as some pretty flowering water plants. I was peering over the walkway one day in early summer to see if I could spot anything, when suddenly I saw a whole brood of ducklings.

Iridescent Pastel Unicorn Haul
I seem to be in the throes of an intense obsession with all things pastel, iridescent, unicorn-y and mermaid-y right now, and I am loving it. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for these kinds of things, but over the last few months I've really been embracing them, so of course my shopping habits have followed suit. In fact I've ended up accumulating so much over a few months that I've had to split this haul into two parts-this part will be the things that make me think of unicorns, and there will be a mermaid themed part two!
