2016 Favourites

I usually do some kind of end of year round up post, where I go through month by month and describe the best bits of each month. But 2016 was so odd-all extreme highs or crushing lows, with enough emotional weirdness to keep a therapist in business for decades-that I'd rather not dissect it like that. Instead, I'm just going to pick out my overall favourites, and choose to focus on the positive parts of this year. And then move on to a hopefully better year! This also takes the place of my December favourites post-I haven't really had time to develop any favourites this month!

Yuletide Decorating

I almost didn't decorate at all this year. We moved a little over a week before Yule, I was ill for a week, and the place was full of boxes and mess. I clearly wasn't going to have the Yuletide I had dreamed of, and I thought I would probably just skip the festive season altogether this year, But then I found the decorations while unpacking, and I had brought my little pine tree from the old place, and the urge to decorate suddenly emerged.

My Fairytale Themed Cube Shelf Display

Currently all my belongings are packed up ready for my impending move, but I thought it would be good to look back at how some of them looked pre-move. I haven't shared a lot of my current dwelling, largely because it's never really worked out how I wanted, and parts of it are extremely un-photogenic. But my cube shelving was one space that I really liked.

A Few Of My Favourite Things | November

Harold and Maude

I didn't really know what to expect from this film-I only knew it was about a relationship with a big age gap, which sounded quite off-putting. But I gave it a chance when I had nothing to do one evening, and it is one of the sweetest, most visually striking, life affirming films I have ever seen. I cried buckets and I now want to live in a converted railway carriage.
