#Creative365 Days 24-29

So, week 3 of #Creative365 has rolled around already. I'll be honest, creativity has not been top of my agenda this week. It was a long, hard week filled with internet problems, and hours and hours and hours of tidying and clearing out my flat. My flat now looks very clean and tidy so that's great, and I still managed to get a fair amount of crafting done. Maybe I'm getting better at this creative/life balance thing.

Anyway, on day 24 I FINALLY FINISHED that giant knitting project I'd been working on for ages. Well, it still needs blocking and the ends woven in, but shush. It's a drachenschwanz, and at some point I'll do a proper post about it with pictures of me wearing it.

#Creative365 Days 16-23

This week of my #Creative365 challenge has been a bit strange, as I've still felt the urge to create but have struggled to come up with new ideas. This, and a desire to actually finish something, has resulted in a LOT of knitting. Plus, after a long day at work I just want to curl up on the sofa with something simple, and knitting is perfect for that.

So on day 16 I did lots of rows of knitting. I've been much happier with this project since I frogged most of it and started again. I especially like how the warm pastel rainbow colours are showing so much better now that I'm knitting shorter rows.

Mermaid Crowns

As it is my life goal to be some kind of magical forest mermaid queen, it seemed only fitting that I should have a crown (or several). So I set to work with some shells and a tiara base, and ended up with two head adornments worthy of a mermaid.

#Creative365 Days 9-15

I'm already on the second week of this challenge, and it is flying by this time! This week has centred around sewing and knitting projects, as I try to use up the larger items in my craft stash and finish things off.

On day 9 I cut out this very wintry stretch fabric to make pieces for a dress. This fabric is really warm and soft!

Rainbow Stationery

I love rainbows. I also love stationery. So I guess it's not surprising that I own quite a bit of rainbow stationery. I think rainbows are wonderfully cheerful and eyecatching, and they have lovely symbolism-I always associate them with positivity. Plus I just love colour, and putting colours together. The way that all the colours of the rainbow somehow manage to both contrast and complement is endlessly fascinating to me.

Brighton Pavilion & Gardens

I have wanted to visit the Royal Pavilion for years, and it was on my list of things to do when visiting Brighton, so I was very happy when I wandered into Pavilion Gardens by accident on my first day there. The gardens are beautiful even in winter, with lush green lawns, winding paths and very cheeky squirrels. They are also filled with wonderful buskers playing lovely music, which really adds to the atmosphere.

#Creative365 Days 1-8

Towards the end of last year, I started a #Crafting365 project, got about a month in, and then forgot to take any pictures for about three weeks. Undeterred by my initial failure, I decided to re-start the challenge on January 1st 2016. This time around I'm doing things a little differently-I will now be doing #Creative365, as I think that gives me more freedom to include and share other creative projects besides crafts. I'm hoping it will encourage me to do more artwork, and to explore other creative outlets such as makeup.

So for day 1 of the challenge, I made new dividers for my new planner! They are made from card which I painted with inks to give an under the sea effect. I then covered them in sticky back plastic, that staple supply of secondary school text books and Blue Peter DIYs. I'm really happy with how they turned out! Hopefully the sticky back plastic will make them more durable.

Mermaiding With Emily Cuttlefishlove

One of the first things I arranged once I knew I was visiting Brighton was to meet up with Emily from Cuttlefishlove and try out her mermaid monofin. I was so excited! There was just one problem...I hadn't been swimming for aeons, and it could be said that I had lost my sea legs...
