#CreativeKickstart June

#CreativeKickstart is a hashtag to share what we've been making and being inspired by each month, created by my merfriend Cuttlefishlove. I kept up with it for a few months last year but then lost track. This year I want to post a photo for each month. I think it will be really interesting to look back at the end of the year and see my creative journey!

In the photo for June I have included:

Knitting: The never ending bluebell cape project continued, and I also worked on some very simple garter stitch pieces to make into slippers. Although sometimes it seems tedious I am glad that knitting has become a regular part of my life now, rather than something I make one item with and then don't come back to for another few years as it used to be.

Sewing: I continued working my way through the fabric stash, trying to be brave and use up some of the fabrics I was more attached to. I have this awful habit of keeping fabrics for years because I am worried I will ruin them in the sewing process, and I really need to be bolder and just use things up!

Painting: I got loads of ideas for a series of paintings in June and started working on them. They are still not finished, but even having the ideas and sketching them out when they first came into my mind is progress for me.

Antlers: I finally got around to making myself an antler headband, something else that had been on my to-make list for years.

Castle shelf: The biggest project I worked on in June was repainting the castle shelf I got second hand. It was a fun project to work on and I love how it turned out!

Overall the main theme of June creatively was getting on with it, using things up and being a little more bold!

  1. The castle shelf and the antler headband are just gorgeous and what a great idea too! I always end up poring over animal headbands on Pinterest and I just think they look amazing so I love these! Did you use foam for the antlers, or did you make them out of a different material / buy them to add on to the headband? - Tasha

    1. Thank you! the antlers were actually part of a deer Christms decoration I bought in Tiger and took apart, but you can get really similar ones on ebay.
