#CreativeKickstart April

#CreativeKickstart is a hashtag to share what we've been making and being inspired by each month, created by my merfriend Cuttlefishlove. I kept up with it for a few months last year but then lost track. This year I want to post a photo for each month. I think it will be really interesting to look back at the end of the year and see my creative journey!

In the photo for April I have included:

Sewing-I've been continuing with my sewing streak in an effort to use up my fabric stash. I really need to work on finishing sewing projects rather than starting about twelve different things at once though!

Knitting- Most of my creative activity in April was knitting, as I embarked on the most complicated knitting project I've done so far, a bluebell cape. It involved adapting and blending two different patterns and has really been a test of my skills and patience!

Pastel colours- I was having a moment of especially loving pastel blues and purples in April, which bled into my creative work.

Painting- I finally got my paints out again and produced three miniature paintings, which I'll be putting up for sale at some point. It was my first time using acrylics for art purposes rather than craft purposes in a very long time, and I was surprised how quickly and easily I slipped back into using them.

Fantasy themes- As usual I was inspired by fairy tale and fantasy, which was most apparent in the paintings I produced. I feel like fantasy and fairy tale themes are really becoming my main style and the thing that makes my creative work stand out. It's quite satisfying to finally have an "aesthetic".

  1. I adore your paintings, they're so pretty and magical too! I'm trying to make sure I do something creative now at least once a week, it's really helpful with anxiety too. Love this post! - Tasha
