Snow Queen Snowflake Crystal Necklace

Every winter I get very into Snow Queen themes, with lots of icicles, sparkling crystals, shimmering snow and white lace and furs-I even made a Pinterest board. In anticipation of this, I made this necklace a while ago, and it had it's first outing last week.

It is made from snowflake shaped Swarovski elements in two sizes, Swarovski bicone beads and some unbranded faceted glass beads. Everything is "AB"-aurora borealis, meaning it has an iridescent effect. This necklace (and especially the snowflake crystals) shines like sunlight on snow, with beautiful glowing colours ranging from blue to a reddish orange! It's like having a little bit of dawn captured in a necklace.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I think I'll be wearing it a lot more this winter! I just need the rest of my Snow Queen wardrobe now...

  1. Stunning Polly! And the board is amazing, I'm following now! xx

  2. So pretty, I don't really have winter themed jewelry, I think I have one very tiny penguin pin somewhere. That necklace is so sparkly. I love the AB sheen on beads and have been trying to figure out how to get that copied to some sort of paint for glass, I have tiny little bottles and would like to make an aurora bottle necklace.

    1. I need more winter themed jewellery! And clothes! I want to make a whole Snow Queen outfit. Apparently you can get iridescent medium to add to acrylic paints which will give them an AB sheen, I'm probably going to buy some and try it out.
