2015 Highlights

2015 was a year of really big changes for me, and if you had told me at the end of 2014 that so much would be so different by now, I probably wouldn't have believed you. A lot of these changes have been very positive, but even good change brings massive upheaval. Parts of this year have been extremely tough. Some plans have had to fall by the wayside, and blogging had to take a backseat sometimes. Rather than going through and examining each month like I have in the past, I thought I'd just share the amazing things about this year, the moments which really stood out.

I went to the Illuminate event, which was amazing!

I went to see Fujiko Nakoya's Fog Bridge, which was magical.

I saw baby goats!

I went to the bluebell woods, which were stunningly beautiful.

I went to Leigh Woods for the first time, to see the Withdrawn installation by Luke Jerram.

I saw slightly bigger baby goats!

I faced my fear and climbed Cabot Tower.

My Pidgin Doll inspired makeup got featured on Pidgin Doll's official Instagram!

I went to Bristol Balloon Fiesta.

I took part in Inktober, which was fun and made me do lots of creative work.

I watched the most stunning lantern procession.

I went to Brighton, which was fabulous! It was my first trip away from home completely on my own, so it was a big step for me. I loved spending time on the beach, and the time away made me think about a lot of changes I want to make to my life.

I mermaided with Emily, who is such a wonderful person. Getting to know her better has been one of the best things about this year. Mermaiding was amazing, and I want to work on getting better at it!

I was also quite creative this year. Projects which made it to the blog were my needlefelted toadstools, my Swarovski mermaid necklace, my mushroom bracelet, a sea glass effect shell bracelet, my stag knitting bag, a tree stump pincushion, my hand drawn sleeping fawn brooch, a tiny Totoro, a fox paper doll, deer embroidery and sparkly snowflake necklace. I also made a lot of things which I forgot to share, so I'll be sharing some of those in 2016.

There have also been lots of highlights I never blogged about! For one thing, I moved, and I'm now living with my partner, which has made me much happier. I got in a much better financial position, which was important to me. I have also met so many lovely people this year, both in person and online. People like Laura, who arranged to meet so she could very kindly give me a gigantic box of seashells! Harriet, who was supportive and kind when I was having a rough time. Kathy, who sent me a sweet card with a heartwarming message about how she loves what I create and made my day. Natalie, who is a calm voice of reason and a beautiful soul. Brooke Elise, who is amazingly sassy and makes me smile. Betsy, who is one of the most incredible writers I've ever had the pleasure of reading, and a true kindred spirit. I hope I can connect with these wonderful humans more in 2016, and meet other interesting, kind, creative people too!

I feel like I'm in a much better position to move forward and make the life I want now, and I can't wait to see what 2016 brings.
