Sleeping Fawn Brooch

I really love deer. A lot. They're a very special and meaningful thing to me, and I think they are incredibly beautiful. I want to do them justice artistically so badly that I'm often scared to produce artwork or crafts with a deer theme in case I mess it up. But this brooch turned out so perfectly, and I genuinely think it is one of the best handmade items I have ever made. It's made from shrink plastic, and I drew the fawn freehand onto the plastic.

Putting one of your drawings into an oven to shrink is a nerve racking process, but it turned out ok! I drew the fawn with fabric pens, as I find these work a lot better and bleed a lot less on shrink plastic than regular markers. Once I had shrunk and cooled the fawn, I just glued a brooch pin on the back.

I'm so happy with how this turned out and I think it is beautiful! I think any creative person will agree that it's rare to really like your own work and not be able to find fault with it, but this I love. It also goes with lots of my clothes which is a bonus! I like being able to wear a piece of my artwork and keep it close to me.
