North Street Graffiti, Bristol

Bristol is well known for graffiti, especially the pieces created by the mysterious Banksy. He's by no means the only graffiti artist in Bristol though, and I'm really happy that the city embraces street art so much. I think when it is done well graffiti can be a really creative medium which can make a big difference to people's lives, and brighten up urban areas.

North Street in the Bedminster area has some interesting street art, and as I wandered up there in search of a milkshake (which I failed to find) this huge mural of a colourful city scene caught my eye.

Further up the road I was lucky enough to catch a work in progress! I liked the blues and the swirling shapes.

The last piece I saw before I gave up on my milkshake quest and turned back was this beautiful design of foxes. I love this so much! The style is really cute but also interesting, with lots of textures. I like the choices of colour, and it's such a sweet image with the interlinked tails and the heart at the centre.

Look at that cute little face!

    1. It's pretty, isn't it? I always feel like street art tells you a lot about what a city is like, and it's always so different and interesting!

  3. Bristol sounds like Detroit - we have a lot of street art, some not so good - some preserved under law. Pretty awesome when they take over full sides of old buildings etc. I love those foxes - super cute and bright!

    1. Yes that does sound similar! There were some early Banksy pieces which I think got painted over or pressure washed off, but now the council seems a lot more encouraging of street art. They even have a big graffiti event where different graffiti artists take over one of the streets and paint the whole thing!

    1. There are lots of charity shops in Bedminster too! I like North Street as there's a little craft shop there which sells unusual things.
