I read a lot of blogs. They're my main reading material, especially since I decided to stop reading newspapers (extremely depressing) and magazines (full of advertising and disappointment). The blogs I have read over the years range from personal blogs with a handful of followers to glossy full time bloggers with a long list of PR contacts. It took me a long time to find a range of blogs I really love and look forward to reading, and I know with so many blogs out there it can be hard to decide which to read. So I thought I'd share five of my favourites, in the hopes you like them too.
I love this blog so much and get so happy when I see a new post! Currently the blog is following the blog owner Rhiannon's travels in Japan, and her experiences living and volunteering there. It has beautiful photography, interesting travel stories and amusing anecdotes, the occasional art post, and a hint of self discovery. I really like that Rhiannon shows a lot of the less tourist-y aspects of Japan, with lots of pictures of small towns and hiking trails-it's more of a personal blog which happens to be being written in Japan than a slick, marketing filled travel blog. She is also very honest about the less glamorous aspects of travelling alone, which is refreshing in a sea of perfect, always happy internet personas.

I've been admiring Emily's gorgeous kanzashi for many years, and I also love her recently revamped blog. She posts about her business, but also about her life, including parenting, inspiration, personal goals, tarot, balancing enjoyment and financial success as a creative, and her experience of chronic back pain. Emily is also a mermaid like me, and is learning to swim with a monofin! She is an all round creative and awesome lady, and I feel like her blog is very welcoming and interesting for all kinds of people.

I recently found Betsy's blog through a facebook link, and I am so in love with her writing. She is a writer living in Ireland, and as well as posting insightful, thought provoking, meaningful pieces on subjects such as PTSD, ambition and the meaning of home, she also writes about her life in the Irish countryside, her animals (she has goats! So jealous!) and Irish folklore. I really enjoy her writing style, I feel like she has a lot of very interesting things to say, and...well, you know...GOATS.

I adore Harriet Muncaster's illustrations and her mascot Celestine, and she shares my love of tiny things, so her blog (named after one of her illustrated characters) is a very happy place for me. It is always filled with sparkles, colours, and magic. Her blog details her work, snippets of her life, the tiny clothes and jewellery she makes for Celestine, and the progress on Celestine's abode-a miniature castle!

I stumbled across this blog through another great blog, Cozy Things, and instantly thought LIFE GOALS. Milla lives on a small island, and writes about her home, keeping a smallholding, feminism, art, life, clothes, nature, spirituality...basically nearly everything I'm into. Again, I find this blog refreshingly honest about the realities of a seemingly idyllic life, but it's also wonderful escapism and inspiration for me. I dream of living in the woods near the sea and growing a lot of my own food and keeping animals, but I don't know anyone doing anything similar, so seeing someone actually do those things is great! Milla's photography is gorgeous, the place she lives is stunningly beautiful, and I really like her down to earth attitude.
