One of the artists I was particularly struck by at Off The Canvas was Thomas Hamilton. Printing is something I've always enjoyed myself and I've produced a lot of work in this medium, which also means I know how difficult it is to get clear lines and detail using this method! Thomas' work was bold, clear and I instantly fell in love with his stylised figures and settings.
I felt this typography piece pretty much summed up life as any kind of creative!
I think the print of the globe was my favourite-simple but brilliantly executed.
I liked the inclusion of the printing plates and practice print runs, it's always interesting to see an artist's process.
Now I just want to do some printmaking myself!
Off The canvas is at F block gallery, UWE Bower Ashton Campus, Bristol. See my overview of the exhibition here.
